I am a cosmologist, classical guitarist and native of Australia.

Presently, I hold the Sophie and Tycho Brahe Fellowship in Astrophysics jointly between the Dark Cosmology Centre at the University of Copenhagen and the University of California at Berkeley.

My research is in the fields of observational and theoretical cosmology; particularly, statistics of large-scale structure, galaxy formation and evolution, type Ia supernovae and the foundations of relativistic cosmology. My curriculum vitae is available online and upon request in digital hard-copy.

News & Recent Publications
09/05/10 - 15/05/10 Chris Blake and Carlos Contreras of the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing at Swinburne, will be visiting DARK to collaborate with Tamara Davis and I on projects with the ongoing WiggleZ spectroscopic redshift survey.
29/03/10 - 04/04/10 Alan Heavens and Fergus Simpson (both of the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh) are visiting DARK to work on some projects in gravitational cosmology and Bayesian statistics.
01/03/10 - 05/03/10 I will be working in the Observational Cosmology group at ETH Zurich, in connection with Katarina Kovac, Luke Barnes and Alexis Finoguenov (MPE, Munich), on projects using zCOSMOS.
18/01/10 - 20/02/10 For this period, I am based in the Astronomy Department at UC Berkeley, in connection with Josh Bloom's group, & working with members of the BCCP and LBL Cosmology group.
10/01/10 - 16/01/10 This week I am attending the Cosmology on the Beach conference at Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
02/12/09 - 04/12/09 Alexis Finoguenov (MPE, Munich) will be visiting us at the Dark Cosmology Centre for a few days. Alexis works on galaxy groups and clusters, and teaches tango in his spare time.
09/11/09 - 13/11/09 This week I will be in Edinburgh, working at the Royal Observatory.
01/11/09 - 07/11/09 For this week I will be working with the X-ray Astronomy group at MPE in Munich
26/10/09 I have been invited to deliver a lecture at the newly established CP3-Origins Centre in Odense. A recording of the talk is now available online. N.B. that at one point I give an incorrect definition for the principal curvature at a point on a surface; I was corrected by Andrew Swann.
15/10/09 I will present a seminar in the Mathematics Department at KU on the links between topology and astrophysics.
24/09/09 The University of Edinburgh School of Mathematics offers an overwhelming rejoinder to the talk from August, with no fewer than three speakers (Julia Collins, Daniele Sepe and Sir Michael Atiyah) presenting topics in topology and cosmology at the Royal Observatory.
24/09/09 Rachel Courtland at New Scientist has picked up our work on the rocketeer and written an article for this week's issue. Congratulations to Juliana on some well-deserved media attention for this work!
21/09/09 - 28/09/09 I am working at the Institute for Astronomy in the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh for this week.
13/09/09 - 19/09/09 This week I am attending the inaugural Berkeley-Paris Dark Energy Meeting, at LPHNE/APC.
09/09/09 J. Kwan, G.F. Lewis & J.B. James (2009), PASA, in press
Juliana Kwan, Geraint Lewis (University of Sydney) and I have had a paper accepted, on the topic of accelerated trajectories in expanding spacetimes.
14/08/09 I am giving a talk in the School of Physics at the University of Edinburgh, on the Foundations of Relativistic Cosmology; 1pm in the CSEC Seminar Room at JCMB.
08/08/09 I will present a seminar on Topology and the Universe in the School of Mathematics.
